Daniel Allen Bulleit, 65, of Greenville, Indiana, found his way home on December 27, 2021. Dan, as he is called by those who know him, is a gifted oil painter who uses his colorful imagination and unrelenting search for light to connect audiences with stories about what it truly meant to be human.
Dan was born on June 28, 1956, in New Albany, Indiana, where he was raised and attended Holy Family and Our Lady of Providence. After attracting attention from Parsons in New York and ArtCenter in California and studying under his hero Bernie Fuchs at the Illustrator's and Designer's Workshop in New York City, he packed his bags when he was 27, and moved to Denver, Colorado, where he attended the Colorado Art Institute. Graduating first in his class and a year ahead of schedule, Dan dove feet first into the world of commercial art. Over the next 20 years of life, he made a name for himself as an illustrator and graphic arts director, eventually owning an advertising agency of his own.
He met his wife of 25 years, Susan, in Denver, and they have two incredibly artistic children: Annie, an actress, and Sam, an artist in his own right (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). Shortly after Sam was born, Dan and Susan chose to move back to Indiana to be closer to family.
Although typically a very private man, when diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer, Dan went full public on Facebook, sharing his battle to educate others to save them from having to experience his journey. Through the artwork and writing he published on his platform, Dan was able to offer inspiration and a helping hand to thousands of friends and fans the world over.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Louis Amiel Bulleit. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Susan Bulleit; children, Sam Bulleit and Annie Bulleit; mother, Barbara Bulleit; siblings; Doug Bulleit, Debbie Bulleit, Randy Bulleit, Jackie Smith, Jeannie Rohan, Terri Akers, Angie Reardon, Joe Bulleit, Jim Bulleit, Mark Bulleit, Charlie Bulleit, Angie Theising, and Matt Bulleit.
