Dallas Franklin Greer, 90, joined the heavenly father on November 17, 2016. Mr. Greer was born on January 19, 1926, in Greenville, South Carolina. Dallas was a WW II veteran who served as a Staff Sergeant for the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He served in the European theatre, fought in three major battles, and witnessed the Nuremberg trials. After his service in the military, he moved to Louisville, KY and attended the United Electronics Institute. He was a highly skilled electrician and began his career at Acme Electric, then 20 years at LG&E and finally 20 years at General Electric where he worked in the Electronic Development Lab and retired as a foreman in 1991. He was preceded in death by his father Dallas Texas "Red" Greer and mother Trixie Key Greer.
Dallas is survived by his wife Ruth Alexander Greer; sons, David Greer and Timothy Greer, both of Louisville; and daughters, Tracy Spalding (Jessie) and Jenna Greer, both of Corydon, IN; ten grandchildren, Amy, Beth, Margeaux, Abigail, Kristy, Tanner, Makenzie, Dawson, Lucas, Landon, Keegan; great grandchildren, Vivian, Genevieve, Josephine, Theodore, Guinevere.
The children of Dallas will receive friends from 3-6 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243, with a memorial service following from 6-7PM.
