Dakota Scott Crump

Dakota Scott Crump, born on May 21, 2002, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on July 27, 2026, in his hometown. Throughout his 24 years, Dakota left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him, remembered for his captivating spirit, kindness, and genuine warmth.

From a young age, Dakota approached life with an openness that made everyone around him feel welcome. He truly never met a stranger, greeting each new acquaintance with a bright smile and an easy laugh. Friends and family alike remember Dakota's beautiful soul—a soul that found joy in lifting others, making people laugh, and providing a comforting presence in both everyday moments and times of need.

Dakota’s love for the outdoors was well known. Whether casting a line while fishing, swimming on a sunlit day, or visiting lakes and rivers, he found peace and happiness in nature’s embrace. His passion for outdoor adventures was matched only by his enjoyment for gaming, where he found camaraderie, excitement, and countless hours of entertainment.

Animals always held a special place in Dakota’s heart. He delighted in their companionship, demonstrating patience and affection for every creature with whom he crossed paths. Equally profound was his ability to connect with people—he cherished heartfelt conversations, always striving to make his friends smile and reminding them of the good in life.

Family was central to Dakota’s world, and he leaves behind a devoted circle of loved ones who will forever treasure his memory. He is survived by his Memaw, Cynthia Curry; his Meme, Dollie Redemann; his father, Eric Crump (Melissa); his mother, Samantha Honshell Krause; his siblings: Taylor, Dyllan, Dylanney, Damon, Samuel, Trinity, and Kiera; his aunts, Ina Henon, Nicole Crump-Newton, and Kayla Crump. Dakota’s enduring legacy will live on in each of them, as well as in the countless memories shared with friends who were touched by his vibrant presence.

Dakota was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert C. Crump and Robert L. Redemann, both of whom held significant places in his life and family.

A visitation to honor Dakota’s life will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. An additional visitation will take place on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am.

Dakota Scott Crump’s generosity of spirit, love for the outdoors, and commitment to those he cherished will be fondly remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy of laughter, kindness, and compassion endures.
