DaKayla Danielle White

DaKayla Danielle White, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on September 29, 2026, in her hometown. She was born on May 23, 1997, in New Albany, a place that remained part of her story throughout her life.

DaKayla will be remembered as a beautiful soul whose presence brought comfort to many. She loved doing hair, love for music, art, and swimming, and she found joy in creative expression and in the simple moments that brought people together. She was known for her compassion, kindness, generosity, and for being supportive to others when no one else was there for them. She was always there for someone in need or for anyone who simply needed someone to talk to. Those who knew her will remember the warmth she gave so freely and the care she showed so naturally.

Among the many roles she took on, sister, friend, cousin, being a mother is the one she cherished most. Spending time with family and friends, especially with her daughter, was the joy of her life. The love she gave to those closest to her will remain a lasting gift, and the memories she created with them will continue to be treasured.

She is survived by her father, Damon White, and her mother, Frederica White; by her beloved daughter, D'Amari White; by her siblings, De'Coyia Simmons and her husband, Devonte Webster, Da'Mon White, Xzaivyon Ramseur, Dymon White, Daivyon Best, and Da'Naira White; and by her grandparents, Daniel Watkins, Kay Crawford and her husband, George, and Java Humphreys and her husband, Thomas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

DaKayla was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Lloyd Mcleod and Kevin McLeod, and by her brother, Shemar R. Shackelford. Their memories remained part of her life and are now joined with hers in loving remembrance.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a burial to take place the same day at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.

DaKayla Danielle White will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her gentle heart, her giving spirit, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Her memory will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
