Cynthia J Greenwell, a beacon of strength and resilience, departed this world on February 24, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 2, 1962, in Elizabethtown, KY, Cynthia lived a life marked by both enduring passion and unwavering determination. A graduate of Nelson County High School, class of 1980, she built a fulfilling career as a Surgical Secretary at Baptist East, where she supported countless patients and healthcare professionals with the same commitment she brought to her personal life.
Cynthia was known for her tremendous spirit; she fought the battle of her life for far too long yet never lost her courage or hopeful outlook. Her open mind and brave heart were a testament to her character, inspiring all those fortunate enough to know her. Family meant the world to Cynthia, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 44 years, Daryl Vaughn, who stood by her side through life's challenges and joys. Together, they cultivated a home filled with love and laughter. Cynthia is also survived by her only daughter, Miranda (Rodney) Adams, a source of great pride and joy for her. Her legacy continues with granddaughter Cierra Adams and her partner Zach Morey, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Wynter Rayn and Xylan Cross.
Cynthia’s love extended to her siblings, including sisters Rachel Thompson and Virgie Hutchins, and brothers Darrell Greenwell, Ronnie Greenwell, Kerry Greenwell, and Ivo Greenwell. She shared countless memories and moments of joy with them, solidifying the bonds of family that she held dear.
In her passing, Cynthia reunites with her beloved parents, Adrian and Elizabeth Greenwell, and her siblings—sister Rose Coates and brother Emmett Greenwell—who have welcomed her with open arms.
As we remember Cynthia, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family and a host of additional friends and loved ones whose lives she touched in profound ways. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
