Cynthia Elizabeth "Cindy" (Lankert) Andres, 77, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Born on November 24, 1948, to the late Norman and Frances "Eddie" (Long) Lankert, Cindy was a 1966 graduate of Providence High School. She dedicated her life to others as a registered nurse, beginning her career in labor and delivery—a natural path given her tender, caring nature and love of babies. She later transitioned to the Floyd County Health Department, where she spent the majority of her career. Following her retirement from Floyd County after 32 years, her passion for healthcare led her to work part-time for the Clark County Health Department before officially retiring for good.
Beyond her career, Cindy’s heart belonged to her husband Ronald, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, with whom she shared 57 beautiful years of marriage. She was a passionate fan of the Indiana Hoosiers, loved horse racing and video poker, and held a deep, unwavering faith. As a devout member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, she centered her world around her family, staying deeply involved in every detail of the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a loyal friend to many and a beacon of warmth to everyone who knew her.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Ronald J. Andres; and her children, Stephanie Rogers (Matt), Leslie Mills (Justin Helton), and Matthew Andres (Carrie Beth). She was incredibly proud to be "Nonnie" to her eight grandchildren: Alex, Evan and Griffin Rogers; Addison and Mya Mills; and Oliver, Charlotte and Felix Andres. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael Lankert (Jackie), Tish Tindall (Glenn), David Lankert (Sharon), and Melinda Ernstberger (Jerry), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended members of the Andres family.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany), and will continue Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral being celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Cindy will be laid to rest privately in the church cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cindy's memory to the Providence High School - Class of 1966 Endowment Fund.
