Curtis D. Young, 74, passed away on September 30, 2026, in Clarksville, Indiana. He was born on October 10, 1951, in Fayette County, West Virginia.
Curtis will be remembered as a man of strong faith, deep devotion, and a generous spirit. He worked for many years as a chef, and cooking was not simply his profession but one of the great joys of his life. He loved to cook whether he was at work, at church, or preparing meals for family and friends. Sharing food was one of the ways he cared for others, and that gift touched many lives over the years.
He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends, especially during family gatherings. Those moments together were an important part of his life and reflected the warmth and connection he valued so deeply.
A proud member of Howard Chapel Baptist Church, Curtis was a man of strong faith and faithful service. He served as a deacon and found great meaning in worship, in serving the Lord, and in taking part in the life and activities of the church. His commitment to his church community was a lasting expression of his character and his beliefs.
Curtis is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Rice and her husband Greg; his son Curtis D. Hambrick and his wife Devon; his daughter Roslyn Hambrick; and his grandchildren, Devin Offutt, Chandler Hambrick, and Cameron Hambrick. He is also survived by his sister, Deidra Young, his brother, Eric Young; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He leaves behind a family who will carry forward his memory with love, gratitude, and the comfort of the many meals, gatherings, and shared moments that defined his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Young; his mother, Lillian Young; his brother, James Young; and his sisters, Wilma Young, Agnes Young, and Wanda Young.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Howard Chapel Baptist Church, 1715 E Market St, New Albany, Indiana 47150. with a funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Curtis D. Young will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him. His faith, his service, his love of cooking, and his devotion to family and friends will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
