Connie Ann Phelps, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Greenville, Indiana on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 1, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, Connie lived a life devoted to her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.

A proud graduate of Presentation Academy, Class of 1974, Connie was an enthusiastic participant in sports, particularly volleyball and softball, showcasing her spirit and energy from an early age. Her adventurous heart led her and her loving husband of 51 years, George B. Phelps, Jr., to build a beautiful life together, conquering challenges hand in hand and cherishing joyful moments. They shared a passion for travel, exploring the wonders of the world, with their favorite destination being the happiest place on earth, Disney. There, they forged unforgettable memories not only for themselves but also with their beloved grandchildren, visiting the parks numerous times and establishing timeless traditions that will be carried on. Connie was never boring.

Connie's heart overflowed with love for her family. She was the proud mother of George B. (Brittany) Phelps, III, and Gary W. (Lynn) Phelps, who will forever carry her love in their hearts. As a doting grandmother, she adored Ava Grace, Hannah Jade, Isaac Henry, Garison, and Constance Phelps, who were her everything. Connie's joy was finding solace in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was watching the hummingbirds flit around her front porch or enjoying a moment of laughter with her loved ones.

As a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in New Salisbury and the YMCA in New Albany, Indiana, Connie actively engaged with her community and embodied a spirit of kindness that radiated to those around her. She was also a participant in an adult volleyball leagues with George, further illustrating her dedication to maintaining an active lifestyle infused with fun.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Ranzel, Sr. and Bobbie Ann Merideth, and her brother, Ranzel Merideth, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, George; her sons, George and Gary; her grandchildren; her brother, Robert Merideth; her sister, Tina (Billy) Hayes; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will all remember her for her unwavering love and kindness.

Connie Ann Phelps leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she encountered. Her gentle spirit, humor, and boundless compassion will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from noon until 6 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
