Colleen Meredith Hittle

Colleen Meredith Roy Hittle, 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, in the comfort of her home.

Colleen was born on January 20, 1974, at Methodist Hospital in Louisville to Ollie Bell Meredith Roy and Wayne Roy. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hittle; her father, Wayne Roy; her grandparents, Smith Jack Meredith and Nelsie Priddy Meredith; and her aunt, Juelden Meredith. She was a member of Harold Johnson General Baptist Church.

Colleen grew up to be a very caring and loving woman. She attended Southwest Christian School for most of her childhood and graduated from Fairdale High School in 1993. She then went on to pursue a nursing career, graduating from Spencerian College of Nursing.

Colleen spent over 20 years serving as a nurse for the Jefferson County Board of Education. She also worked as an in-home nurse caring for children with special needs. Although she did not have children of her own, Colleen viewed the children she cared for as her own. When she was not working, she could often be found spending time with her beloved husband, sharing their love of travel. Together, they visited places such as Hawaii and their favorite destination, Jamaica.

Colleen is survived by her loving mother, Ollie Bell Meredith Roy; her brother, Darrell (Trina) Roy; her nephew, Logan Roy; her nieces, Kirsten and Alyssa Wilson, and Savannah (Brandon) Phillips; and her great-nephews, Jasper Phillips and Dutton Phillips (on the way) She is also survived by her large extended family, the children she cared for, and many friends who will fondly remember the amazing woman she was.

Visitation for Colleen will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. the same day at the chapel. She will be laid to rest privately at Jack Meredith Cemetery in Edmonson County, Kentucky, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Crusade for Children or Kosair Shriners for Children in honor of her life’s work helping children with special needs.
