Clyde Eugene Matthews

Clyde Eugene Matthews, 91, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022. Clyde was the eternal entertainer and always on the move. Clyde was a self-taught musician, band leader, and lead singer with various bands for over 60 years. Clyde worked for and retired from ICI Americas, also known as the Indiana Army Ammunition plant in Charlestown.

He was born on January 3, 1931 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Robert and Hazel Matthews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Melvin, PI, Maurice, Wayne, Ralph and sisters Margie, Viola and Melba.

Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Joyce (Keibler) Matthews; sons, Steve Matthews, Michael (Kimberly) Matthews and Kevin (Maria) Matthews; grandchildren Michael Matthews, Sarah Matthews, Charlotte Baker (Josh), and Eric Matthews; great-grandchildren, Colt, Jayden, Addy and Greyson.

Cremation was chosen following Clyde's wishes and a private family service was held to honor his life. Clyde will be laid to rest at Sellersburg Cemetery.
