Clifford B. Stocksdale III, "Skip", age 77, attained eternal life on May 21, 2026, surrounded with love, at home with family by his side. His new life began with death, for what once was hope is now reality, what once was promise is now fulfillment, and what once was faith is now sight.
Skip was born on October 15, 1948 in Clarksville, Indiana to Clifford and Marilyn "Mickey" Stocksdale. In addition to his beloved parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary "Jan" Neuwirth.
He was a graduate of Flaget High School and attended college at Indiana University while serving in the National Guard. He later retired from Philip Morris Inc.
Along with Skip's family, his devotion to his faith was his legacy. He was a member of Grace and Truth Fellowship in Clarksville, Indiana where he led singing and played his guitar. Golf was also a major interest - Skip was always striving for perfection with his swing and enjoyed time spent on the course. He looked forward to dining with family and friends, especially on Fridays, as he was not only a foodie but a great cook.
Skip is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita; three children, Todd (Dana), Jared (Andrea), and Kristin King; seven grandchildren, Canaan and Colton Stocksdale, Grayson King, Sydney Trusty (Nick), Hadley and Haven Enlow, and Hannah Mayberry (Will); and a beautiful great-granddaughter, Lorelai Mayberry; as well as a host of family and friends. He was a loving husband, dad, "pap" and friend.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and Thursday May 28, 9am to 1pm, with a funeral service to follow at 1pm, at Newcomer, Cremations Funerals and Receptions, Southern Indiana Chapel, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana, 47150. Burial to follow at Salem Evangelical Reform Church Cemetery - 2060 Payton Rd SE, Corydon, IN 47117.
