Cletus Anthony Receveur, 78, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. In his younger years, Cletus could be found drag-racing his car and cruising through Frisch's Big Boy. He will be fondly remembered for drinking Big Red, squirting his nieces and nephews with cow's milk, and being a professional whistler. Cletus enjoyed going to Cades Cove in Gatlinburg with his wife and counting bear and deer. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Above all else, Cletus loved his family and was devoted to his children and grandchildren.
He was born on February 22, 1943, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to the late Ferdinand and Myrtle (Hanka) Receveur. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Alma McKnight, Raymond Receveur, Helen Heeke, Agnes Richmer, Leo Receveur, Melvin Receveur, and Martha Klein.
Cletus is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rose M. (Falkenstein) Receveur; daughter, Melanie A. (Jim) Roberts; daughter, Mindy S. Brockwell; and son, Adam J. (Kathleen) Receveur; grandchildren, Grayson Brockwell, Colton Brockwell, Alexander Receveur, and Elizabeth Receveur; and sisters, Evelyn Graf and Doris (Virgil) Klein.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
