Cleo “Jeanette” Voyles, 96, was born on May 28, 1930, in Navilleton, Indiana, and died on October 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Jeanette lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. She was a proud member of St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church, and her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. God was her life, and she shared His word with anyone who would listen. Her warmth and devotion were also felt through her work, as she served for many years she worked as a certified nursing assistant at Floyd Memorial Hospital on the maternity floor and she later work as a cook for New Albany Floyd County Consolidated Schools, caring for others in a simple but meaningful way.
Nothing brought Jeanette more joy than spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking, and family gatherings were made even more special by the meals she prepared and the love she poured into them. Her home and her table were places of comfort, welcome, and togetherness, and those memories will remain treasured by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Eleene Metcalf, Beth Costin and her husband Warner, and Sheila Bennett; her sons, Denny Voyles and his wife Debbie, and Danny Voyles and his wife Michelle; 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Clarice Conrad. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her with deep affection and gratitude. Jeanette’s love for her family was steadfast, and the legacy of that love will continue in the lives she touched so deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Voyles; her daughters, Carol Metcalf and Leanna Humphery; her parents, Clarence and Cleo Vernia; and her sisters, Marie Katheryn Brown, Martha Eicher, and Anita Jones.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church Navilleton, 7500 Navilleton Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119 with burial to follow at New Albany National Cemetery in New Albany, IN.
Jeanette will be remembered for her strong faith, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will be cherished always.
