Claudette “Cookie” Turner, age 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 11, 2026.
She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Claude and Cecile Cook. Claudette shared a special bond with her dear older brother, James Kolar, whom she adored throughout her life. Claudie was a favorite aunt to her brother’s children, Jan, Jimmy, Mike, Steven and Chris Kolar. They loved her sense of fun and adventure telling unforgettable ghost stories to them while babysitting.
Cookie spent her youth in Minneapolis, where she attended Marshall High School and formed many cherished lifelong friendships. From an early age, she possessed a tender heart and deep love for animals, much to the amusement of her mother, who often discovered small creatures tucked away in her pockets. She spent many lovely summer days at her parent’s lake home on Little Sandy Lake. At the age of 19, she married Philip Turner of Paducah, Kentucky. Cookie was the beloved mother of Suzette Turner-Clark and Philip Turner, both of Louisville, and the proud and loving grandmother of Chelsea Clark.
She lived a life enriched by creativity, curiosity and beauty. A gifted watercolor artist, Cookie found joy in painting and shared her artistic talents with those around her. She was also an avid reader whose favorite companions were often found within the pages of a good mystery novel. Cookie had a deep love of gardening and took pride in creating flower-filled yards bursting with color, along with delicious homegrown tomatoes eagerly enjoyed by family and friends each summer. She also had a well-known sweet tooth and especially loved chocolate-covered caramels. Her husband, Philip, brought her quite a few sweetheart boxes of chocolates.
She will be remembered for her artistic spirit, gentle manner, quiet sweetness and the beauty she brought into everyday life. Those who knew and loved her will carry her memory with them always.
