Claude L. Jones, 96, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026. Claude was a loving Father of seven children and spent the first part of his career in service to his country, having served in the Army in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired from military service in 1974 and began a new career as a machine oil mechanic at the Naval Ordinance and retired again in 1992. Claude spent his retirement years serving his community as a volunteer at Southwest Hospital and Farnsley Moreman Landing. He was a member of Meadowlawn Baptist Church for over 43 years and served as their Treasurer and a beloved Deacon.
He was a member the Masonic Order, St. Thomas Lodge #2, where he served as Grand Treasurer. He also was PWP of Aurora #96 O.E.S. PHA and a member of Consistory #41.
He was born on November 7, 1929, in Anderson County, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Annie Jones; mother, Ruth Jones Brown; children, Ronnie Jones and Venita Baker; grandson, Bryce Keller and sisters, Annabelle Tyler and Sara Cook.
Claude is survived by his children, John D. (Sharon) Jones, Gary Jones, William Jones, Cathy (Randall) Wells, and Anthony (Christine) Jones; grandchildren, Marcus Jones, Brian (Misty) Jones, Ebony Jones, Andre (Ashley) Jones, Aleshia Carter, Natasha Jones, Ciarra Jarboe, Nathan Jones and Nicholas Jones; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, from 4pm-7pm.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 16, at Meadowlawn Baptist Church, 12103 E. Orell Road, Louisville, KY, from 10am-11am with the service beginning at 11am. Entombment to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
