Claretha "Clo" Smith

Claretha "Clo" Smith, born on October 9, 1952, embarked upon her eternal journey on June 25, 2025. Clo, renowned for her vivacious spirit and warm smile, was not merely a beacon of joy amongst her family and friends, but also a true embodiment of love and laughter in her community.

Clo cherished the musical melodies of the blues and the rhythms of old school music, often seen dancing to their soulful tunes. An innate people person, she effortlessly breathed life into gatherings, ensuring that those around her felt welcomed and appreciated. Her infectious enthusiasm made her the life of the party, a title she carried with grace.  Clo had an unwavering ability to uplift others, wrapping them in her warmth while sharing her delightful nature through song and dance.

Beyond her vibrant social life, Clo's nurturing spirit found solace in gardening, where she took immense pleasure in planting flowers and adorning her surroundings with nature's beauty. Every bloom she tended echoed her own zest for life, symbolizing her love for creation and growth. Clo also took pride in decorating, infusing her environment with creativity and love—a testament to her flair for aesthetics.

Clo’s devotion to her family was her proudest accomplishment. She reveled in the company of her grandchildren, taking immense pride in their achievements and the love they shared. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she poured her heart into nurturing their bonds, ensuring that unity and love flourished amongst them all.

She preceded in death by her parents, David Lee and Reatha McConico; daughter, Katherina Ann Smith; brothers, Willie Iverson and Paul Edward McConico and her sister, Patricia Ann McConico.

Clo leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 53 years, Raymond Smith, Jr; son, Raymond (Shalita) Smith, III; grandchildren, Jalen Crooms, Chakyra Smith, Rayia Smith, Raymond Smith, IV, Ahrea Thompson, Sha'Rae Smith, Ernest Bradley; brothers, David McConico and Arthur (Janice) McConico; sister, Katie (LeRoy) Elliott and a host of extended family and friends. 

In celebration of her life, family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1620 Anderson Street, Louisville, Kentucky, on July 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at noon. This will be followed by a graveside service at Green Meadow Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, Kentucky, commencing at 2:15 PM.

Claretha "Clo" Smith's legacy of love, joy, and resilience will continue to resonate through all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to this radiant spirit, may we carry forth her vibrant essence and celebrate the countless memories she has left imprinted upon our hearts.
