Clarence Andrew "Slim" Wheeler, age 91 of Louisville, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019. He was a graduate of Crestwood High School Class of '46. Slim was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Midway and USS Kearsarge and a member of the American Legion. He was a retired PBX installer for Bellsouth, and after retirement worked for Funeral Auto and Herman Meyer Funeral Home. Slim was a member of St. Francis of Rome and Holy Trinity Church and member of the Knights of Columbus, Assumption Council #4473. He was an avid golfer. Slim was preceded in death by his parents, James Ewing and Mary Frances Bartsch Wheeler; his son, Terry A. Wheeler; great-grandson, Jackson Blair Michael Gordon; and his brother, Henry Wheeler.
Slim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy; daughters, Becky F. Gordon (Blair) and Mary Jude Rushing (Chuck); grandchildren, Cameron B. Gordon, Julia P. Gordon (Kurt Monette), Abbie C. Weisbrodt, Chase W. Rushing (Britani), Tyler L. Rushing (Kayla); great-grandchildren, Hunter Weisbrodt, Shalyn Rushing, Adriana Rushing and Cooper Rushing; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. Mass of celebration will be 10am Tuesday, March 5th at St. Francis of Rome, 2119 Payne Street, Louisville, KY 40206. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
