Clarence Herbert Puckett, Jr., born on August 3, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 18 2024, at his home in LaGrange, Kentucky. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose legacy of love and dedication will be cherished by those who knew him.
Herb Puckett dedicated many years of his life to the Jefferson Public Schools Transportation Department, where he worked as a Bus Driver. While working there he was awarded Bus Driver of the year. Prior to that he was a mechanic for many years. Herb never met a stranger and loved to laugh.
Herb found joy in pursuing hobbies that enriched his relationships with family. He treasured the moments spent fishing with his daughters and grandchildren, often taking trips to Nolin and Rough River Lakes. His love for the water extended to deep-sea fishing trips in Florida, where he created lasting memories with those he adored. His daughters and grandchildren will treasure the memories of all the trips they took to Florida, the Smoky Mountains, Chicago, and Washington D.C.
Herb is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Helen Puckett; his two daughters, Sheri Angelove (Pete) and Susan Mings (Doug); his cherished grandchildren, K.C. Mings, Gregory Mings, Michael Angelove, Samantha Mings, and Sara Angelove; and his great-grandchildren, Taryn Mings and Declan Mings. They will forever remember his warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering support.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Herbert Puckett, Sr.; his mother, Roseddia Puckett; and his brother, Joe Puckett. Herb's absence will be felt deeply by his family and friends as they gather to celebrate his life.
Visitation will be held on October 23, 2024, at Sligo Baptist Church in Pendleton, Kentucky, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will take place at Valley Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, at 3:30 PM.
Clarence Herbert Puckett, Jr. will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and the joy he brought to the lives of those around him. His spirit will endure in the hearts of his loved ones.
