Clarence Edward Combs of Corydon, Indiana, passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 78. Born July 9, 1948, in New Albany, Indiana, Clarence’s life was marked by devotion to his family, enduring friendships, hard work, and an abiding appreciation for life’s simple joys.
He spent many dedicated years working in manufacturing at Currys Veneer before retiring.
From a young age, Clarence found great fulfillment in the company of his loved ones, and treasured the time spent with his family. The joy of his life was the quality moments shared with his beloved wife, Mary, and his parents. Those cherished memories-whether created during family gatherings, quiet evenings at home, or special occasions-remained central to Clarence throughout his life.
He was happiest outdoors, whether fishing, hunting with his father and uncle, or working on projects alongside his dad. These experiences not only deepened his love of nature, but also forged bonds that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. Clarence also found spiritual community and strength as a member of St Mark's United Church of Christ, which held an important place in his life.
Clarence is survived by his brother, Mike L. Combs, and his spouse, Alice, both of whom will dearly miss his kindness and brotherly love. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Combs, his parents, John H. and Dorothy S. Combs, and his sisters, Yvonne (Roy) Markland and Betty (Robert) Leist. Their memories were deeply treasured by Clarence, and his life was profoundly shaped by the love and support of his family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location beginning at 5:00 PM.
