Clarence Harrison Baptiste Jr., born on July 18, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Shirley Hall and Clarence Harrison Baptiste Sr. Clarence, affectionately known to his family as "Bunky" attended Providence public schools.
In 1958 he joined the United States Army where he served for 21 years before retiring. In addition to his military career, he worked as a large gun cutter and grinder at the Naval Ordnance station in Louisville for years after his military retirement. In the community he was known as "BAP" and his passion was bowling. He held numerous positions in the bowling community to include being an American Bowling Congress board of directors' member representing the Louisville Metro Area. He also was president of the Louisville chapter of The National Bowling Association, an officer of multiple bowling leagues and he spent extensive time coaching junior bowlers in the Louisville area.
On August 20, 1994, he married Bonnie Gales of Cincinnati, OH. They were married for 24 plus years.
"Bap" is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Hall and Clarence Harrison Baptiste Sr; daughter, Shirley Baptiste and sister, Donna Colding. .
"Bap" leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Joanna; sons, Clarence Harrison Baptiste III, Carlton, Chris and Leroy; 7 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces nephews, other relatives, family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 11am-1pm with a celebration of "Bap's" life beginning at 1pm.
A graveside service will be Thursday, March 21, 2019, beginning at 1:30 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central, 2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160.
