Clara Helen Thompson, 82, passed away on April 4, 2018, from complications of Alzheimer's. She was a former employee of the American Printing House for the Blind. Clara had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She loved shopping for her treasures at the Peddler's Mall and being surrounded by her family at Christmas was her favorite holiday.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Iva Showalter; sisters, Mildred Walker, Ruby Tindall and Edith Davis; brother, Buddy Branham and granddaughter, Carrie Ann Orr.
Clara is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Thompson who called her "His Girl"; children, Joyce (Bob) Reed, Terry Orr, Arthur (Brenda) Vaughn and Anita (Mark) Mathis; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Tomberlin and Dorothy Parrish and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 12pm-6pm. A celebration of Clara's life will be Monday, April 9, 2018, beginning at 12pm.
Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, 10917 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
