Listen to Obituary

Christopher "Mikey" Leonard, 37, passed away, leaving behind a space that can never truly be filled and a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Mollie and Leonard Meredith; grandparents, Joe and Geraldine Stooksbury and Alicia Evans-Vernon; his aunt, Stephanie Spond; and his nephew, Xavier Leonard.

Mikey is survived by his loving mother, Melissa Evans; stepfather, Alan Evans; brothers, Justin (Allisha) Leonard, Josh (Erin) Leonard, and Tyler Leonard; sisters, Haleigh Leonard and Olivia Leonard; aunt, Jessica “JJ” Evans, nieces and nephews, Braden, Everly, Gracelynn, Elliot, Zander, Theodore, Ashton, and Anikan; great-aunt Bea; great-uncle Butch; and father, Gary Leonard along with numerous cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him deeply.

To know Mikey was to know someone who lived life on his own terms. He was vibrant, creative, fiercely loyal, and full of heart. He loved deeply and protected the people he cared about without hesitation. If Mikey loved you, you knew it. He would show up when you needed him, stand beside you when times were hard, and celebrate with you when life was good.

Mikey found peace and happiness in the simple things. Whether it was walking through the woods, sitting outside on a rainy day, or taking in a beautiful sunset, he had a way of seeing beauty where others might not. He was a gifted artist whose creativity flowed effortlessly into painting, crafts, and everything he touched. His imagination, free spirit, and unique outlook made him unforgettable.

More than anything, Mikey loved his family. He was a proud son, a devoted brother, a fun-loving uncle, and a friend who made people feel seen and accepted.

His laughter, his stories, his artistic soul, and his ability to make ordinary moments special are gifts that will remain with those who loved him.

One of the most meaningful relationships in Mikey's life was the bond he shared with his beloved Mamaw Gerry. They were more than grandmother and grandson; they were best friends. They shared countless memories, endless conversations, and a connection that time could never diminish. The thought of them reunited brings comfort to broken hearts and reminds us that love never truly leaves us.

Though 37 years is far too short, Mikey lived with a spirit that was larger than life. His journey was uniquely his own, and his impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten. He leaves behind not only memories, but pieces of himself in every life he touched.

“Some people pass through this world quietly. Mikey did not. He loved fiercely, lived freely, created beautifully, and will be missed beyond words."
