Christopher Koenig, born on December 31, 1997, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away on April 20, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Christopher’s life was a testament to the values of loyalty, devotion, hard work, and honesty, virtues that shaped him into the remarkable man cherished by his family and friends.
From his early days attending Floyd Central High School, Christopher displayed a meticulous nature and a love for craftsmanship that accompanied him throughout his life. He dedicated many years to working as an Operator for Louisville Paving and Construction, where his steadfast commitment and professionalism were admired by colleagues and peers alike.
Christopher was more than just a hardworking individual; he was a loyal husband to his beloved wife, Mandy Koenig, and a devoted father who found his greatest joy in watching his daughter grow. Peyton and soon to be Emersyn were the light of his life, and the special moments shared with Peyton remain some of his most cherished memories. Christopher also deeply valued his role as a loving son to his mother, Lisa Hayslip, and his stepfather, Randy Hayslip, as well as a caring brother to Elizabeth (Justin) Morrison, Corey Koenig, Courtney Koenig, and Maddie Maggard. He held a special place in his heart for his grandmother, Teresa (Joseph) Prior, and he fondly remembered his late grandfather, Joseph Prior.
A man of many interests, Christopher had a passion for working with his hands and a knack for tinkering on things around the house, always ready to lend his skills where needed. He was a collector of treasures that held personal significance, each piece telling a story of his thoughtful spirit. He enjoyed sharing quality time with his family, creating lasting memories, and found freedom and thrill in riding his motorcycle, embracing the open road with a joyful heart.
Among all his achievements, Christopher’s proudest accomplishment was witnessing the growth of his family—a reflection of the deep love and dedication he poured into his life. He was a beacon of strength and warmth, whose presence brought comfort and happiness to those around him.
A graveside service to honor Christopher’s life will be held on April 27, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery, located at 800 6th St, New Albany, IN 47150. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a man who touched many lives with his unwavering loyalty and endless love.
Christopher Koenig leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and integrity that will forever resonate in the hearts of Mandy, Peyton, Emersyn, Lisa, Randy Jr., Elizabeth, Corey, Courtney, Maddie, Teresa, and all who were fortunate to know him. Though his passing leaves a profound void, his memory will continue to inspire and uplift all those who loved him.
