Christine (Stevens) Bays

Christine (Stevens) Bays, 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021. She was a long-time member of Graceland Baptist Church.

She was born on June 27, 1938, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, to Issac and Cynthia (Hamilton) Stevens. In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her daughters, Renée Riggsby and Trina Sheckell.

Christine is survived by her children, Dana Smith (Duane), Karen Saltsgaver (Nevin), and Christopher Bays (Rogene); grandchildren, Jason Riggsby, Derek Riggsby, Kylee Bays, Garrett Bays, Nevin Saltsgaver II, Jacob Saltsgaver (Savannah), Cynthia Hall (Matt), and Olivia Popham (Jamie); and great-grandchildren, Jevan, Hudson, Carter, Morgan, and Julianna.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Brother Jeff Barbour and Rev. Joey Pyle officiating. Burial will follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens in New Albany. Christopher Bays, Duane Smith, Nev Saltsgaver, Jacob Saltsgaver, Jason Riggsby, and Matt Hall will have the honor of serving as pallbearers.
