Listen to Obituary

Christina Parrish Shelton was born December 12, 1931 to the marriage of Allen Parrish and Odenia Brown Parrish in Louisville, KY.

At the age of 14 year, Christina's mother passed away. And, choosing not to join her father in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she and her sister Mary Louise became full- time residents at The Good Shepherd Convent Group Home for Girls. At Good Shepherd Convent, Christina accepted Christ as her lord and Savior at a young age. Later, she worshiped at St. Augustine Catholic Church and others.

Her elementary education was attained at St. Augustine Catholic School, and she

received her High School Diploma from The Catholic Colored High School in Louisville. Upon graduation, Christina moved to Chicago, lllinois to live with her great uncle, Dr. Sylvester White, Sr. to work and further her education. In Chicago, she fell in love and married William Davis. To this union was born her son Carlos.

However, she missed her home state of Kentucky so, following a divorce, she moved back to continue her college education. In Louisville, Christina attended Community Colleges and majored in Office administration, which prepared her for a 31-year career as In-Take Administrative Assistant for the State of Kentucky until retirement. Along the way, she also became a beautician.

Christina married Wallace Shelton, and they enjoyed the birth of a baby girl, Delisa. After his death, she focused on raising her children and being active in the church, and community. She loved singing, dancing and playing the piano. However, traveling became one of her favorite things to do, which includes trips to Jamaica, England and many other places. However, during her Golden Years, she frequently expressed the burning desire to go to the Holy Land; a trip she hadn't taken.
