Cheyton Alexander Grangier, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed unexpectedly on February 19, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 19, 2000, in New Albany, Indiana, Cheyton was a radiant soul whose spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered.
For many years, Cheyton dedicated his skills and compassion to his work as a caregiver with ResCare, where he found profound joy in caring for others. His commitment to helping those in need was a testament to his generous heart and his deep-seated belief in the importance of community. Cheyton carried himself with a sincerity and warmth that could light up any room, effortlessly bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.
Cheyton's zest for life extended beyond his career; he loved bowling and cherished the great outdoors, YouTubing, always seeking adventure and connection with family and friends. He was a free spirit who relished the simple pleasures of life, always prioritizing the happiness of others over his own. His family will forever treasure the fond memories of his laughter and affection, as he filled their lives with love and joy.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Kelly Grangier, and father, Scott Grangier, alongside his loving brother, Dakota Grangier. Cheyton’s legacy is also held dear by his grandmothers, Treva McGrath and Karen “Meem” Duke, who will carry his memory in their hearts. He is lovingly remembered by his uncles, Rodney (Kitty) Grangier, Phillip (Amanda) Grangier, Kevin (Karen) Duke, and Kenny (Elizabeth) Duke Jr., as well as his aunt, Kristin (Tom) Marron. Cheyton was a cherished cousin to Keith Grangier, Jessi Grangier, Buster Grangier, Joe Duke, Lyz Duke, Trace Duke, Mallory Grangier, Brynn Grangier, Jason Marron, Jenna Marron, Jordan Wolf, Sydney Wolf, Madison Wolf, and Matt Barger, along with his cousin Gretta Ervin, and his beloved dog Pickles.
Cheyton now rests among his loved ones who have gone before him, including his grandfathers, Kenneth “Bob” Duke, Sr., Kenneth Grangier, and William “Tony” McGrath, as well as his cousin Jamie L Grangier and dear friend Dakota Burns.
A visitation will be held on March 1, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, continuing on March 2, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN. A Celebration of Life will take place on March 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the burial at Swayback Cemetery in Borden, IN at 1:00 PM.
The world has lost a genuinely beautiful spirit in Cheyton Alexander Grangier, whose kindness and warmth will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
