With profound respect and deep emotion, we celebrate the remarkable life of Chauncey Sinclair Hanka, who departed this world on July 7, 2026, at the age of forty-nine. Though his journey was cut far too short, the breadth and depth of Chauncey’s character, his unyielding candor, and his unwavering love for his family and friends have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on May 15, 1977, Chauncey grew into a man whose presence commanded attention, whether through his quick wit or his irrepressible honesty. Never one to shy away from a laugh, he was known affectionately as a joker, effortlessly finding humor in any situation and reminding those around him that levity is a balm even during the most trying of times. Outspoken by nature, Chauncey had no filter and no hesitation telling it like it is—a quality that, while bold, only deepened the admiration that loved ones felt for his authenticity and genuine spirit.
Chauncey’s proudest legacy is his devoted and loving family. He cherished and celebrated the blessing of his wife, Amanda, whose steadfast presence radiated warmth and strength throughout their years together. The pride he held for his children—Andromeda and Chauncey Hanka, II—was boundless, their lives a testament to the love, humor, and candor he so selflessly shared. The love and guidance bestowed upon him by his mother, Rhonda Sue Hanka, and his father, Tony Hanka, shaped him in ways both visible and unseen. Among the circle of cherished survivors are also Rumble P. Jackson and Mable Surup, beloved friends whose companionship enriched his journey.
Chauncey found immense fulfillment as a Kettle Operator at Nucor, taking genuine pride in his work and the camaraderie he found there. Beyond his vocation, he delighted in passions that spoke to his vibrant and creative soul—playing X-Box, capturing the world through photography, making and listening to music, immersing himself in the realms of Star Wars and Marvel movies, and relishing the joy of building Star Wars Legos. Nature, too, was a source of solace and inspiration, providing moments of profound peace and wonder.
These simple pleasures, and the pride he took in family above all else, reflect a man whose priorities were pure—who gave freely of himself and encouraged others to embrace authenticity, laughter, and love. To know Chauncey was to witness someone who lived fully, loved deeply, and spoke truth without fear.
Family, friends, and all who wish to honor Chauncey’s memory are welcomed to attend a visitation on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A memorial service will follow at the same location at 5:00 PM.
Although Chauncey Sinclair Hanka’s brilliant presence has left our sight, the echoes of his laughter, the impact of his honesty, and the depth of his love will resonate forever in the hearts of all he touched.
