Listen to Obituary

Charlynn Therese Brandt, DVM, age 77 passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, after a courageous battle following an injury and subsequent illness. Her journey on this earth was marked by adventure, compassion, and love for her family & friends.

Char was born on May 5, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH, to her parents, Stanley S. Brandt and Caroline K. Brandt, who predeceased her and whose guidance & values remained a compass throughout her life. She is survived by siblings, Pamela G. Brandt and Paul S. Brandt. She is also survived by her beloved nieces, Britney Flynn (Adam) and Aslyn Brandt (Matthew Ramsey), along with their children, who brought joy to her life.

Char's lifelong passion for animals led her to a distinguished career in veterinary medicine. She realized her dream of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in Equine Sports Medicine. Her commitment to healing was furthered when she became a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. Often stating, "Western medicine does not have all the answers", her approach to ‘combined medicine’ included holistic treatments as well. Before retiring, Dr. Brandt transitioned to small animal practice, where her integrative approach to healing continued to make a difference in the lives she touched.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Char found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her love for travel and hiking was evident as she explored the unique landscapes of the Southwest and Pacific Northwest, always with her canine “kids” by her side. Char enjoyed Tom Clancy novels and was a steadfast fan of classic films, with any film starring either William Powell or Barbara Stanwyck being her happiest of places.

The Family plans a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made in Char’s memory to your local animal shelter.
