Charlotte Marie Contreras

Charlotte Marie Contreras, born on November 5, 1958, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away on January 10, 2026. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, cherished for her warm spirit and unwavering kindness.

Charlotte was the daughter of Viola Gardener Van Gundy, who preceded her in death. She grew up alongside her siblings, Linda Curts, Marilyn Shoots, George (Ann) Van Gundy, and Mary Ann (Morris) Gunn. Together they formed a close-knit family, weaving a tapestry of love and support that Charlotte carried throughout her life. In addition to her immediate family, Charlotte also held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, and her fur baby, Ponch. Her legacy lives on in the laughter and joy she shared with them.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Van Gundy and James Britt.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens.
