Charles Donald Walton, born on December 3, 1934, in Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully, at home, with his wife and daughter by his side on October 2, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a beloved figure known for his loving and kind demeanor, always embodying the qualities of a true gentleman.
Charles served proudly as an Army veteran, a commitment that reflected his dedication to service and sacrifice for his country. His faith was an integral part of his life; he was saved and baptized at Dunns Creek Baptist Church at the age of 14, continuing to worship and follow his beliefs throughout his life. Charles was active in his church community, leaving a legacy of service as a Deacon and working with children's ministry.
In his personal life, Charles was described as soft-spoken, never meeting a stranger, which made his love for travel well known. He enjoyed exploring the states in his RV, embracing the opportunity to connect with people wherever he went. His hobbies included gardening and working with his hands, pursuits that brought him joy and fulfillment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nan Azile Walton and Luther Clyatt McDaniel; siblings, Barbara Sapp and Paul McDaniel; his 1st wife of 36 years, Betty Goodwin Walton; granddaughter, Cathleen Henderson and son-in-law, Randy Henderson
Charles leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 25 years, Pamela Walton; daughter, Debra Walton Henderson; step-sons, Walter Carey, Jason Scott and Wesley Scott; siblings, Barbara Petersen and Elizabeth Honeycutt and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Charles's family and friends will remember him not only for his accomplishments and service but also for the warmth he shared with those around him. He will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on October 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, located at 11601 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, KY 40241. Attendees are welcome to pay their respects to a man who lived his life with love and kindness.
