Charles L. Songster, Jr., age 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026.

Known for his unwavering love as a father, grandfather, and friend, Charles brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. For 17 dedicated years, he served as an administrative assistant at Progress Rail, a testament to his strong work ethic; he was a man who never missed a day of work. Charles had a delightful sense of humor, always ready with a joke, and his passion for El Caminos was unmatched. He found immense joy in collecting trains, building various projects, fishing, camping, woodworking, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

His deep-rooted faith was reflected in his commitment to the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where he not only worshipped but also raised his voice in song as a member of the choir. Charles was known for his generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Born on August 3, 1949, in Louisville to Charles and Mary (Clark) Songster, he was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Songster, Sr.; his mother, Mary Ella Heavrin; and his step-father, Henry Heavrin.

Charles is survived by his cherished daughters, Carolyn (Kristopher) Vannatta, Patricia Songster, Mary Shirley, and Kathy Angel, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Luke, Brooke, Nickolas, Michael, Amber, Triniti, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
