Charles S. Rucker, born on January 26, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, in Georgetown, Indiana.
Charlie grew up in Kansas City, where he graduated from Northeast High School and developed the foundation for a life marked by learning and dedication. He continued his educational journey, earning a bachelor’s degree in geology. This passion for earth sciences led to a remarkable career: Charlie devoted over 30 years of service as a Geologist for the Corps of Engineers-an accomplishment that not only reflected his expertise and diligence but also his commitment to excellence in public service.
Outside of his professional achievements, Charlie was known for his zest for life and the fulfillment he found in simple pleasures. He enjoyed softball, boating, riding his motorcycle, and bowling-a testament to his lively spirit and his appreciation for camaraderie and friendly competition. Above all, Charlie cherished spending time with his family and his beloved fur babies. Family gatherings were at the heart of who he was, bringing together loved ones for moments filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
Charlie’s legacy endures through those he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Rucker; his sons, Charles Michael Rucker, Sean Patrick (Cathy) Rucker, and Terry Michael (Kendra) Hunt; and his treasured grandchildren: Tyler Hunt, Kaylee Hunt, Amanda Rucker, and Andi Rucker. The memory of Charlie is further intertwined with the stories and values he passed on to each of them.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles A. and Rosalyn L. Rucker. Their influence is reflected in the man he became-a loving husband, caring father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend.
Charlie’s life was a beautiful tapestry of professional dedication, joyful pastimes, and unwavering family bonds. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
The family requests that contributions in Charlie’s memory be made to Hosparus Health Southern Indiana or donor's choice.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
