Charles Irvin Thompson, 69, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 28 Bonnie Sloan, and the Masonic Lodge in New Albany. Charles worked for the Henry Vogt Machine Company for over 30 years and retired from the American Red Cross.
He was born on July 20, 1946, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Amos and Gertrude (Waterberry) Thompson. Charles is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Miller and Jennifer Thompson; siblings, Debbie Watson (William), David Thompson (Jacque), Karen Blankenbaker, Mike Thompson (Sherri), Mary Arbuckle, and Pat Brendle; grandchildren, Morgan Miller, Kevin Miller, and Jessica Boman; and great-granddaughter, Katrina Boman.
Cremation was chosen following Charles' wishes. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Memorial Service taking place at 4:00 p.m. Charles will be laid to rest at a later date at New Albany National Cemetery.
