Charles Edward "Ed" House, Jr.

Charles Edward "Ed" House, Jr., aged 75, passed away on May 10, 2025, in a life marked by dedication, love, and a myriad of cherished moments. Born on March 14, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Charles and Lola (Giles) House, he was a steadfast figure whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ed built a remarkable career at UPS, serving diligently for 21 years as a supervisor in aircraft maintenance and engineering. He was a man of quiet competence and kindness, traits that resonated in both his professional and personal life. During his time at UPS, Charles exemplified the values of hard work and commitment, earning the respect of his colleagues.

In addition to his professional achievements, Ed proudly served his country as a dedicated member and crew chief in the United States Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War, then to England, Utah, Arizona, Hickham AFB Hawaii and Patrick AFB in Florida. For over two decades, he was a Sikorsky, HH-53, H-3 and heavy lift helicopter mechanic specializing in air rescue, contributing significantly to the safety and security of others. His service was a testament to his strength of character and his unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Ed obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.

A proud holder of an Airframe and Powerplant license obtained in the early 1990s, Ed approached life with the same passion he brought to his interests. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially The Beatles, and found joy in expressing himself through the guitar. His love for driving and working on his MG, TR6, Transam and Corvette, further exemplified his zest for life. Fridays were special to Ed, often spent indulging in pizza and a few beers, creating lasting memories with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing tennis and attending concerts, often reliving those moments through DVDs.

Ed leaves behind a loving family who will remember him fondly. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria E. House; daughters, Barbara Williams (Craig Grave) and Beatrix Kamakahi; and son, Donald Whiteside. His legacy continues through three grandchildren, Jacob Kamakahi (Anna), Kevin Kamakahi (Juliana), and Joshua Kamakahi (Jasmine), along with four great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Ed is also survived by his brother, Brian House (Sheila), and sister, Judy Roden (Charlie), as well as niece Shelly (Bryan) and nephew Rich (Missi).

Ed is preceded in death by his beloved son, Adrian Cohen. His absence will be felt profoundly, but his spirit will undoubtedly remain alive in the hearts of all he touched.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on May 17, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. The visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM.
