Charles Edward Franklin, 65, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on May 13, 2015. Charlie was born on October 16, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Edward and Florence Grace (Radford) Franklin.
Charlie was also preceded in death by his brother, Ray B. Franklin.
Charlie graduated from duPont Manual High School in 1969 and worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department briefly before pursuing a passion for photography.
In 1974, Charlie began his 26 year career with the Jefferson County Corrections Department until retirement in 2001. In retirement, Charlie became a traffic school instructor and continued working in photography with the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police's Knight Beat publication.
He enjoyed spending time in Florida and traveling to Fraternal Order of Police functions where he made lifelong friends. Charlie served as the current Secretary and Treasurer for the Metropolitan Lodge#32 Fraternal Order of Police.
Charlie is survived by his twin nieces; Andrea (Loren) Renfrow, Angela (Steve) Binkley; sister-in-law, Edith Grant; great nephews, Luke Franklin Renfrow and Jackson Ray Binkley; many loving cousins and friends and his most affectionate dog, Gabby.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 am Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville).
