Charles Roy Durbin, 75, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Charlie loved the outdoors, especially if it had to do with racing. He had a passion for mud racing, which he did all over the country and also oval track racing that he did at the Sportsdrome. He owned and operated Charlie's Wrecker Service in New Albany since 1973.
He was born on August 2, 1944, in Leitchfield, Kentucky, to the late Edwin and Hazel (Elder) Durbin. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Durbin; and infant sister, Elizabeth.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Alice Durbin; son, Carl (Lucretia) Durbin; daughter, Kathy (Leon) Johnson; stepson, Robbie Asher; daughter, Robin (Shannon) Ries; son, Chuck (Andrea) Durbin; son, Chris Durbin; son, Terry Durbin; sister, Sue (Marvin) Dunn; sister, Kathy (Bill) Heil; brother, Eddie (Katrina) Durbin; sister, Joy Barnett; brother, Frankie Durbin; brother, Billy (Kathy) Durbin; sister, April (Bobby) Thomas; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
