Charles "Tom" Cornell, 68, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ranger and retired from General Mills after 20 years of service. Tom was a computer whiz, avid fan of Star Trek, and a motorcycle enthusiast.

He was born on December 18, 1947 in Parker, Arizona to the late Woodrow Cornell, Sr. and Thelma (Washburn) Williams. Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diana (Phelps) Cornell; daughters, Tammy Cornell Hughes (Rich), Elizabeth Cornell Herbert (Brandon); siblings, Jerry Dye (Denise), Patricia McDowell, Neal Dye (Donna), Jane Martinez, Jim Dye, Ivan Williams, Woodrow Cornell, Jr. (Macey), Frances McFarland, Francine Cornell; grandchildren, Willow, Rowan, Ian, Brienne; life-long friend, Phil Ehringer (Annetta); and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen following Tom's wishes and Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Tom's memory be made to the Cancer Care Center (2210 Green Valley Road, New Albany, IN 47150).
