Charles "Norman" Bratcher, 69, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1969 and studied at Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, where he graduated in 1983. Norman served on the Clarksville Police Department from 1983 until his retirement in 2008. He was also the owner and trainer at Norman's K-9 Academy.
He was born on July 15, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Gilbert and Opal (Roller) Bratcher. Norman is survived by his wife, Rena (Bauer) Bratcher; children, Robin McCarty (Steve), Justin Bratcher, Angie Blanton, Eric Blanton (Shannon), and Kira Powell (John); grandchildren, Corey Smith (Logan), Lindsey Swann (Anthony), William McCarty, Justin Bratcher, Chloe Newton, Lucy Powell, Baxter Powell, and Louie Powell; great-grandchildren, Lana Smith, Benjamin Swann, Theodore Swann, and Amelia Jane Swann; siblings, Deborah Bratcher, Gilbert Bratcher (Maggie), Michael Bratcher (Lisa), and Dawn Bratcher (Paula); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 6:00 p.m. Cremation will follow according to Norman's wishes.
