Charles Leo Boehnlein, Jr. born March 12th, 1938, passed away on September 4th, 2025 at the age of 87. He was born in Tennessee and very proud to be a Tennessee Volunteer, but loved watching his Kentucky Wildcats with his Bride.
Whether you knew him as Charles, Charlie, Sarge, Bubba, Dad or Poppy his sense of humor and quick wit would leave you with a smile. If that didn’t do it, one of his endless repertoire of songs surely would.
Charles was very proud of his career in law enforcement. He proudly served with the Jefferson County Police Department, for twenty three years, retiring in 1988, with the rank of Sergeant. He especially enjoyed his years as part of the River Patrol.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Stopinski), his sons Charles (Ann), Mark (Melissa), Steven Chase (Sonia Lynn), Daniel (Tonya), daughter Tammy, brothers, Michael (Donna), and Jerry (Theresa). He was the proud Poppy of dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Leo Boehnlein, Sr. and Sylvia Lucille Boehnlein, sister Bettye Jean Fogg, and sister Sylvia Carter.
Charles loved to play golf, ride his bike, go for walks and watch sports. He spent his vacations at Rough River, teaching his children and grandchildren to love the lake and the great outdoors.
He will be missed by many, but the Proud Boehnlein name will live on for many generations to come.
