Charles Albert Clark, age 93, of Hannibal, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, June 6, 2016, which was also D-Day. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. He was a machinist by trade and a long-time member of Southside Christian / Clover Road Christian Church, where he was a church Elder Emeritus. Charles was known for his love of cats; he would have had a houseful if Martha would have let him. He was a tinkerer and could fix anything mechanical. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed target-shooting, loved astronomy and was a voracious reader. He was an avid fan of fast-pitch softball and cheered enthusiastically for the New York Yankees and Louisville Cardinals. He enjoyed grand opera and loved all music but especially bluegrass, classical guitar and piano. Charles was a self-taught and learned man. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Martha Mae Clark whom he married on September 9, 1951 at Southside Christian Church in Hannibal, MO. She entered eternal life on October 28, 2009. He is also preceded by his parents, James David and Julia Andre Clark; his son-in-law, Frank Muse; and his siblings, Arry, Martha, George, James, Julia, Robert and Anna Louise.
Charles is lovingly survived by his daughters, Julia E. Clark, Baltimore, MD.; Sarah K. Muse, Whiteville, NC.; Rebecca R. Clark, Louisville, KY.; special nieces and nephews, Sherri Clark, David Clark, DeeDee Higgins and Ronald Leroy Smith; other great nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home, 302 S. 5th Street, Hannibal, MO. 63401. Funeral Services will be at 10am, Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Clover Road Christian Church, 785 Clover Road, Hannibal, MO 63401, with Rev. Tim Goodman officiating. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
A Memorial Ceremony to celebrate Charles life will be at 11am Friday, June 17, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Louisville, KY. Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday, June 16th from 2-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clover Road Christian Church, Alley Cat Advocates, or the Jacob Davis Benevolent Fund in care of the funeral home.
