Carroll Wayne Walters

June 25, 1941 — September 4, 2017

Carroll "Wayne" Walters, 76, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 after a brief illness. He was a loving husband to his wife of 54 years, Polly (Breck) Walters, a devoted father to his children, Travis Walters of Memphis, and Paula Wolfe (Tim) of Marysville, and grandfather to Brayden, his pride and joy for the past 20 years.

He was a member of Utica United Methodist Church. Wayne retired after 30 years from C. Lee Cook. However, he never really stopped working as he was a very talented "fixer" and builder. He had a nearly full-time job keeping up with home repairs and improvements for family and friends. When he did have time of his own, he was busy tending to his yard, keeping the flowers blooming, caring for his fish pond, and making sure the backyard pool was crystal clear. In addition to his many talents and dedication to his family, Wayne will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors and the woodworking projects he lovingly made for his family and friends.

He was born on June 25, 1941 in Stanford, Kentucky to the late George and Thelma (Castle) Walters. Wayne was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Catherine; and siblings, Marvin Walters, Shirley Zollman, and Pauline May.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandson, Wayne is survived by his sisters, Georgia Hall of Scottsburg, Janet May of Otisco, brothers, Allen Walters of Jeffersonville, Michael Walters (Brenda) of Memphis; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Stevens and his nurse practitioners, as well as the ICU, TCU, and Oncology Department at Norton Women and Children's Hospital.

Cremation was chosen following Wayne's wishes and he will be laid to rest privately at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Contributions in Wayne's memory may be made to Charlestown State Park (PO Box 38, Charlestown, IN 47111).
