Carrie Sue (Cotner) Deckard, 72, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Carrie was truly a family-oriented person who enjoyed traveling, attending NASCAR races, shopping, and being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She was born on June 29, 1949, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Cecil and Marion (Barley) Cotner. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her 4 sisters.
Carrie is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, John "Steve" Deckard, Sr.; children, Gary (Vicki) Coomer and Tracy Coomer; stepchildren, Stephanie Deckard and Johnny Deckard; grandchildren, Christian Coomer, Tyler Coomer, Tanner (Makenzie) Faulkenburg, Chance (Krysteena) Wagoner, and Laney Perry; step-grandchild, John Deckard III, Amanda Morrel, Bobbi Morrel, and Carrie Rae Morrel; great-grandchildren, Brandon Wagoner, Paislee Faulkenburg, Brody Faulkenburg, and Jaklynn Wagoner; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dee, Glenice, Alma, Paul, Lonnie, Dennis, and Joe; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Cremation was chosen in regards to Carrie's wishes. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m .on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). Her Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests that contributions in Carrie's memory be made to the Breast Cancer Society.
