Carolyn Virginia (Bates) Greenman, 69, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015. She was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Sellersburg. Carolyn had many things that she enjoyed in life which included photography, travel, the Indiana Hoosiers and the Cincinnati Reds. She had a love for music, was an incredibly talented oboe player, and was also a nationally ranked tennis player. Carolyn was an educator, had a passion for education and a desire to never stop learning. Carolyn was employed as an adjunct computer science instructor at Indiana University Southeast.
She was born on April 13, 1946 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Ralph and Marian (Mahaffey) Bates. Carolyn is survived by her husband, John Greenman; daughters, Rebekah Hall (David), Deborah Nason (Richard); sister, Barbara McMakin (Dale); grandchildren, Aaron Huffman (Ashley), Julia Huffman, Anna Huffman, Amanda Highfield; many friends and several "fur babies."
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A rosary service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 4 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Campus, 2605 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, IN 47172) with cremation to follow.
