Carolyn Louise Trusty, born on October 19, 1934, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, in her hometown, surrounded by her beloved sons and family. Carolyn lived a life filled with devotion to her family and a passion for her work, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
A dedicated professional, Carolyn served as an assistant in the Athletic Department at the University of Louisville. She further honed her administrative skills as a Secretary for prominent accounting firms, including Christian, Brown & Ruffer, and Ernst and Young. Her commitment to excellence in her career was rivaled only by her passion for spending time with her family.
Carolyn was a woman of many interests and talents. She had a profound love for the outdoors, often indulging in camping and hiking adventures in stunning locations such as the Grand Canyon, the Smoky Mountains, and Myrtle Beach. These experiences were enriched by the time she spent with family, as she adored taking day trips with her grandchildren. Her home was a welcoming space where she enjoyed hosting friends and family for meals, creating an atmosphere of warmth and connection.
A lover of music, Carolyn's journey in life was intertwined with song. It was in a local church choir that she met her late husband, Charles Leroy Trusty, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Her creativity extended beyond music; she had a knack for sewing and found joy in reupholstering furniture, bringing new life to old pieces.
Carolyn held her family close to her heart and took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving sons, Charles Alan Trusty and Greg Edwin Trusty (Mollie), along with her cherished grandchildren: Zachary Trusty, Madeline Trusty (Jesse Nilges), Zane Trusty, Leigha Trusty, and Claire Trusty. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she loved them unconditionally, adoring every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leroy Trusty, and her parents, Ed Holderer and Carrie Mae Holderer. Carolyn's legacy lives on through her family, who will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
A visitation will be held at Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood, Kentucky, on September 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved.
