Carolyn W. Sallee of Louisville died on December 25, 2018. She was 83 years old.
A native of Berea, she was a graduate of the University of Louisville and had a master's degree from its Kent School of Social Work. She had a long career as a licensed therapist.
She introduced her children to adventure and travel, first as a military family stationed in Europe and later, as a single mother, on two consecutive summer cross-country camping trips in their 1963 Volkswagen bus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lowell C. Sallee, a U.S. Army captain and psychiatrist, and her eldest son, William Clay Sallee.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Sallee of Huntsville, Ala. (Rebecca); and Brett Sallee of Louisville (Marlene); a brother, Bob Van Winkle of Commerce, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Matthew Sallee and Clayton Sallee of Louisville; Robert Sallee of Ojai, Calif.; Caroline Sallee of Austin, Tex., and Harley Sallee of Monticello, Ky.; three step-grandchildren, Aaron Fossaluzza of Ocala, Fla., and Anthony Fossaluzza and Amy Nelson, both of Louisville; and two step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 10:30 am on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions in Carolyn's memory be made to Kentucky Humane Society.
