Carolyn Jean McCool, a radiant spirit beloved by many, was born on June 4, 1942, in New Albany, Indiana, and passed away on December 4, 2024, in the same cherished city. Surrounded by her loving family, she departed from this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and strength that will forever color the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Proudly embracing her role as a stay-at-home army wife, Carolyn dedicated her life to nurturing her husband and children with unwavering support. In a home filled with laughter and affection, she was the heart that kept everything beating, always there for her husband, Ron McCool, and their beloved children-Tina (Rory) Barnes, Robert (Lizzie) Williams, Scott (Terri) Williams, Vanessa DeCruz, and Josh McCool. Her nurturing spirit expanded to embrace her grandchildren: Robert, Courtney, Scotty (Whitney), Christopher, Ashley (Brandyn), Misty, Savanna (Kameron), and Lonnie, along with her cherished great-grandchildren, Christopher, Axel, Lachlan, Cree Rylin, Presley, and Baby Girl Williams. To Carolyn, family was not just an obligation; it was her greatest joy and her finest art.
Her personality was as vibrant as her hobbies; Carolyn delighted in the simple pleasures of life. From crocheting afghan blankets, to buck skinning at camp, to playing cards, her creative pursuits were a testament to her artistic soul. The garden she tended was a tapestry of colors, much like the memories woven through her experiences with her children and grandchildren. A collector of clocks, she was fascinated by the passage of time, yet adeptly wielded her own time to nurture and love, reminding everyone around her of the secret beauty in each moment.
She was a proud member of The Tomahawks in Harrison County, Indiana and Parkway Baptist Church in New Albany, Indiana.
Though she enjoyed giving her husband a good-natured hard time, she kept him on his toes with her playful wit and loving banter. Those who knew her understood that her teasing was as much a part of her affection as the gentle hugs she offered, encapsulating the essence of a woman who lived life to the fullest.
Carolyn is survived by her loving family, including her dear siblings: Ernest Mayfield, Janet (J.C.) Bittner, Joe (Mary) Mayfield, and Brenda (Duane) Brinson, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who were touched by her gracious spirit. She now joins her beloved parents, Oscar and Marie Mayfield, and her first husband, Bobby "Bobcat" Williams in eternal rest.
