Carolyn Ann (Thompson) Jewell

Carolyn Ann (Thompson) Jewell, 87, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. She was an active member of American Legion Post 48 and a charter member of the Legion Riders of Post 42. Carolyn was very family-oriented and had several interests that included riding motorcycles, listening to music, dancing and cooking.

She was born on August 24, 1936 in New Albany to Wallace and Lelia (Carpenter) Thompson. Along with her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Jewell, Sr.; and sons, James Jewell, Jr. and Gregory Jewell.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Deborah Cottingham (Timothy), Regina Pollard; grandchildren, Jason Terry, Callie Cunningham (Bobby), Chad Cottingham, Aaron Jewell (Audria), Jeremy Lawrence (Jeni), Christopher Cottingham, Cory Pollard (Taryn), Amber White (Josh), Kelly Jewell, Chrysha Pollard, Cody Jewell; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; companion, Tim Seacat; sister, Sharon Bernhardt (Mickey); and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the funeral home. Carolyn will be laid to rest privately at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
