Carolyn G. Humphrey, devoted mother and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on June 4, 1943, in St. Albans, West Virginia, Carolyn gave her life to caring for others.

A proud graduate of Marsh Fork High School in Montcoal, West Virginia, Carolyn embraced every opportunity to nurture and support those around her. Her service to her church was a reflection of her loving spirit and unfaltering dedication to helping others. She deeply enjoyed working with children and took great pleasure in creating dolls alongside young ladies, which highlighted her creativity and passion for uplifting the younger generations.

To her family, Carolyn was the embodiment of love and devotion. She was a loving wife to her devoted husband, Donald L. Humphrey, and a caring mother to her four sons: Robert Cahn Humphrey, Daniel Lee Humphrey, David Carl Humphrey, and Matthew Donald Humphrey. Her family was always at the heart of her being, and she found her proudest moments in watching them grow. As a grandmother, she showered her grandchildren—Brock, Carly Wickham, TY, Connor, Ryan, Brady, Autumn, Mason, and Taylor—with the same unparalleled love and warmth that she gave to her children. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren.

Carolyn’s circle of love extended beyond her immediate family. She was a devoted sister to Marianne Turner and a loyal friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her honesty, hardworking nature, and commitment to her family and friends resonated deeply with those around her, making her an irreplaceable presence in their lives.

Though Carolyn will be deeply missed, her memory remains vivid in the hearts of her loved ones. She is survived by her husband, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy of compassion forward. She is lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Gyovai; mother, Velma Accord Bland; stepmother, Nancy Gyovai; brothers, Shawn and Joey Gyovai; grandparents, John Porter Accord, Marietta Bone Accord Calloway, Steve Gyovai, and Ethel Pappai Gyovai.

As we cherish the memories of Carolyn G. Humphrey, let us remember her as a beacon of love, compassion, and strength—a woman whose life was a testament to the power of caring for others. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she freely gave to others throughout her wonderful life.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Newcomer, Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, Southern Indiana Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
