She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 6, 1944, to Hazel and Herman Ernspiker. Carol lived a full life centered around crafting and community. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved great-granddaughter, BayLee Belmont. Whether cooking, doing crafts, or playing school; Carol cherished every moment with her.

She loved to cook, crochet, and craft, and especially enjoyed creating 5D diamond paintings. Carol will be remembered for her creativity, warmth, and the joy she poured into everything she did.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Board; her grandsons, David Seth Deckard (Julia) and Benjamin Daniel Deckard; her great-granddaughter, BayLee Jewel Belmont; her sister, Sandra Lee Lucas; and her brother, Joseph Shane Ernspiker.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon Potts; her parents, Hazel and Herman Ernspiker; and her brother, Barry Ernspiker.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Hopewell Cemetery, 3702 Hopewell Rd., Louisville, KY 40299.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Vitality Senior Living for their devoted care and compassion during Carol’s final year.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
