Carol Jean Shearer Furrow of Louisville, Kentucky passed away in her home July 2, 2021. She was 75. She is survived by her two daughters, Anna-Marie Carr (David) and Kathryn Rae Zeigler (Todd), and four grandchildren Emma Rose, Mimi Beane, Liza Jean, and Ewan James; siblings Sonny Shearer, Cindy Tucker, Kenneth Shearer (deceased), and Gina Murphy; lifelong friends and beloved dog, Ringo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred (Butch) Furrow, III.

Daughter of Samuel J. and Betty Jean Pickett Shearer, Carol was raised by Phillip Atwood and Anna Louise O'Connell in the Iroquois Park area. She was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School and attended Western Kentucky University. A member of South Jefferson Christian Church, Carol was also a Kentucky Colonel. She was the co-owner of The Clothes Bazaar and later was a shift lead in sales at Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort in Connecticut.

A celebration of Carol's life will take place Thursday, July 8 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel. 10304 Dixie Hwy, Valley Station, Kentucky 40272. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. with an intimate service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the veterans organization of your choice.
